The Con-Lib coalition is retaining Labour’s pledge to abolish child poverty by 2020. It is keeping the winter fuel allowance. And although the Liberal Democrats have caved in on a range of issues, from immigration to schools, there does appear to be a centrist feel to some of the details emerging from the government’s agenda.
Over to Labour. As David Cameron tries to occupy the centre ground, the opposition may be forced to choose a centrist candidate and not one seen as a lurcher to the old left. Does this help David Miliband?
