A Prescott dynasty?

David Prescott makes new push to follow his father to Westminster.

John Prescott's son David, who failed in his fight to succeed his father in Hull East, is reportedly in the running to become Labour's candidate for the Mersey constituency of Weaver Vale.

He will hope to succeed the Labour incumbent, Mike Hall, who is standing down at the next election, due to poor health.

Prescott Jr, who runs the campaign consultancy Game Changer, has done much to aid his father's emergence as a prolific blogger and tweeter.

If he wins the selection, he will join Emily Benn (Tony Benn's granddaughter), Anas Sarwar (son of Mohammad Sarwar) and John Cryer (son of the socialist MP Ann and the late Bob Cryer) as a familiar name on the campaign trail.
