Emission impossible?

Fifty-five countries have pledged to make emissions cuts, or at least to "reduce carbon intensity" by 2020. Fifty-five! It's just that, even if those 55 (of the 192 that were there) stick to the (non-binding) agreement they've signed, we are nowhere near meeting the necessary levels to prevent temperatures rising more than 2°C . . .

Emissions cuts to be made "by 2020"? Like that's going to help. No, it's perfectly obvious that nothing is going to be done. We'll use cloth rather than plastic bags for our shopping, we'll recycle some of our rubbish, but that's about it. But what will governments do that won't risk them not being re-elected?
