Ed Miliband and one of the greatest films of all time

12 Angry Men a wise choice for contender’s Labour Uncut Desert Island Discs.

I'll leave the analysis of Ed Miliband's "cool" music preferences to the Labour Uncut team that is putting together the leadership contender's "Desert Island Discs" choices.

But I do have to take my hat off to the former climate change secretary for his choice of Sidney Lumet's 1957 film 12 Angry Men as his favourite movie. It is a peerless tale of justice and injustice. I recommend anyone who's not seen it -- whether an Ed Miliband fan or not -- to rent or buy it asap.

It's a film from the Glory days of Socialism, about the time that most advanced countries where starting to realise as a theory it was totally flawed. Pretty worrying that such an out of touch film should be chosen by somebody looking to connect with the people.

Also again I ask, why bother writing this Mr Mc? Another self indulgent post from you. Why don't you find a career your good at?

@go James GO -Are you a frustrated journalist sickened by rejection letters from editors? I've noticed you having a go at both Mehdi and James this evening. Try spelling 'you're' correctly and you might be in with a chance of a gig.

12 Angry Men is a great movie. I've always had a healthy respect for those who make movies with something to say rather than Hollywood dross. Lumet made this, The Hill, The Verdict, Serpico, Long Days Journey Into Night and many others. Thank goodness someone did.
