Damned if he does and damned if he doesn't.

So much of these Obama years are characterised by decisions made when there was no choice or a choice between two or more bad options. Take the OBL mission. Violate an ally's sovereignty to conduct a revenge killing, or allow OBL to remain in sanctuary. I'd rather he was extradicted and brought before the ICC, but that was never going to happen for a host of reasons.

So here again, Obama goes to Aurora and the platitudes proliferate. Can't go there and say - no more military small arms in civilian hands - like he (maybe) wanted to or there goes a slice of votes to Romney.

So I feel for Uncle Obama. He so desparately means well and wants to do the right thing, but so seldom is able to.
