Time for a New New Left Manifesto?

41 years ago, the New Left came up with a May Day manifesto to renew progressive politics. The time has come for just such a document for the 21st century left

A few weeks ago I stumbled across a copy of the 1967 New Left May Day Manifesto and found it resonated with the politics of 2008 Britain. I've written about it here on the Liberal Conspiracy website, which would be a great place to host a debate over what the manifesto should contain.

I agree with you Martin personally I believe in empowering people, that is why I like intiatives like surestart.

Conor Foley wrote a brilliant article about your lots views in which we know what Cohen and the Eustonites hate

Muslims, black immigration, trades unions, welfare state, Brown , livingstone, old and new labour, Amnesty international (unless they are critising the Eustonites enemies) and liberals but you get no articles from yourself, Cohen and Kamm of what you want and how to achieve those aims.

Martin for somebody who has posted an admirable attempt to look at the leftist agenda you haven't entered the debate . What do you believe in and what "leftist" concrete proposals do you suggest.

That is the trouble with journalists. Good at negativity and very bad at ideas.
