Who is David Abrahams?

Apparently everyone seems to have encountered Labour's latest embarrassing donor, but no one realised he was trouble
I've just received a series of hilarious postings from a journalist friend who is gobsmacked by the Labour Party's claims that no one knew who David Abrahams was apart from the hapless General Secretary Peter Watt.
The first message said: "Haven't you met David Abrahams at like virtually every meeting you ever went to?"
I replied: "Tell me more. I don't think I've ever met him, but then maybe I'm in denial like the Labour Party."
The reply came: "He's always been this... presence at millions of think tank meetings about the middle east etc and always wanted to be friends..."
I have edited the above exchanges to protect the innocent, but it's quite clear that Abrahams was a Zelig-like character in intellectual/Labour circles. It is just not possible that people were unaware of his "presence".
