FILM: Lecturers go on strike in Bristol.
By Staff blogger Published 16 February 2011 14:05
The repercussions of the cuts in higher education are being felt in Bristol, where lecturers at the University of the West of England (UWE) have been forced to take strike action over threats to staffing. Michael reports on the strike and finds out what students who supported it think about the situation.
Michael Chanan is professor of film at Roehampton University (and previously taught at UWE). His video blog documents the emerging anti-cuts movement and will lead to a full-length film. You can watch previous instalments here.

I attend UWE and am also the News Editor for the student there publication, WesternEye. There is an incredible amount of spin from the University surrounding the restructure. Many staff members have been either unwilling to speak frankly to me or have asked to be quoted as an anonymous source.
