Kia Motors said that the global sales for passenger cars (export sales, domestic sales and sales from overseas plants), recreational vehicles (RVs) and commercial vehicles increased by 22.7 per cent to 182,288 units in October 2010, compared to same period prior year.
In October 2010, sales in general markets increased 30 per cent to 38,498 units, sales in Korea increased by 19.8 per cent to 43,147 units, sales in North America rose by 36.8 per cent to 35,687 units, Europe sales were up by 5.9 per cent to 33,832 units and China sales increased by 25 per cent to 31,124 units.
Kia Motors posted the C-segment Cerato sales of 34,829 units for October 2010, the B-segment Rio and Sorento mid-size SUV follow with 16,059 and 16,517 units sold, respectively.
The Sportage compact SUV sales were 20,635 units and the sales of Soul urban crossover vehicle were 12,281 units for October 2010.
Kia Motors senior executive vice president and COO Thomas Oh said, on the heels of their recent announcement of all-time high net profit for the third quarter of 2010, the company is encouraged to see their sales momentum in global markets remain strong as they head into the final couple months of 2010.
"The challenge we are tackling in the meantime is meeting the overwhelming demand for newly introduced models like the all-new Sportage and Optima which have received tremendous attention from the world's media and consumers alike," Oh said
