Europe Ford Fiesta sales reaches 850,000 vehicles in September

Ford's total European car sales down 7.5% in six months to September.

Ford has reported sales of 850,000 Fiesta vehicles for September 2010 in Europe that is now available on five continents, and is manufactured in the company's five production facilities globally, including Cologne, Germany and Valencia, Spain.

The company said the total European new car sales was down 7.5% to 1,407,600 vehicles in the six month to September, and expects total industry sales to reach between 14.5 and 15.0 million vehicles in 2010, down from 15.9 million last year.

In addition, the company said that its market share in these markets was 9.1% for the month, 0.9 percentage points down on September 2009.
The company's sales in its traditional 19 European markets year-to-date was 1,003,600 new Ford vehicles were registered, a drop of 93,100 units or 8.5% from last year.

Ford Europe vice president of marketing, sales and service Ingvar Sviggum said that the company remains one of the strongest players in the European auto industry and their product-led strategy in Europe is successful, and they're sticking to it.
