Nissan Motor sales up 5.7 per cent in August

Production is up in all regions Nissan produce in.

Nissan Motor has reported total sales of 316,481 units in August, an increase of 5.7 per cent compared to same period a year ago.

Nissan sold 55,083 units in Japan, up 34.6 per cent year-on-year, which includes mini-vehicles.

The domestic sales of mini-vehicles were increased marginally by 3.2 per cent from the previous year to 10,229 units.

The sales outside of Japan increased 1.1 per cent to 261,398 units, sales in the US decreased by 27 per cent to 76,827 units, while in Europe, sales increased by 3.1 per cent to 32,437 units and in China, sales increased by 19.3 per cent to 75,096 units.

The company's total production rose by 31 per cent to 310,872 units in August.

The production in Japan increased 24.6 per cent year-on-year to 91,519 units due to increased output of of the new Juke and the new Elgrand.

The production outside of Japan saw an increase of 33.8 per cent year-on-year to 219,353 units marking an all-time record for the month of August.

Nissan's production in the US increased by 46.7 per cent to 49,281 units due to demand for demand for all models led by Altima.

In Mexico, production increased 20.7 per cent to 39,946 due to demand for Tiida.

Production in the UK rose by 69.2 per cent to 27,756 units due to demand for the new Juke and Qashqai.

In Spain, production increased to 385.3 per cent to 3,135 units due to demand for all models led by Primastar and production in China increased 4.5 per cent to 66,760 units.

In addition, the company's exports in August increased by 11.9 per centto 43,145 units. The exports to North America decreased by 36.7 per cent to 16,195, while exports to Europe increased by 489.9 per cent to 6,654 units due to demand for Teana and X-TRAIL.
