General Motors has signed an agreement with Motors Liquidation Company (MLC) to purchase the GM Strasbourg operations, a transmission development and manufacturing business in Strasbourg, France, from MLC.

According to GM, the acquisition brings the Strasbourg facility into its manufacturing network, and adds development capability to its engineering network.

The company said that closing of the purchase agreement is expected to take place within the next few months.

The Strasbourg facility, with a production plant and a development centre near the port of Strasbourg, manufactures efficient six-speed automatic transmissions, and its customers include GM operations around the globe and also third-party car manufacturers.
