The advanced valve technology enables increased EGR system air flow, which helps reduce engine combustion temperatures. Low combustion temperatures are one of the keys to Navistar's Advanced MaxxForce EGR system for meeting EPA 2010 clean-air standards, without burdening commercial truck operators with liquid urea based selective catalytic reduction (SCR) after-treatment.
