The water babies

When the city gets hot, the hot go swimming. And when the heatwave-struck city in question is Nanjing, capital of China's Jiangsu Province and home to more than seven and a half million people, the swimming pool can get pretty crowded. This past week, swimmers all over China have been hurrying to pools, beaches and even the polluted Yangtze River as temperatures soared to 40°. The levels of heat reached in the country's swimming pools have gone unrecorded.
