Here is your chance to help improve the nation's eating habits and enjoy afternoon tea at the House of Commons.

Submit an idea for an Early Day Motion (EDM) and win a chance to have it suggested in Parliament.

The best idea, as decided by our expert panel, will be brought to Parliament by our nominated MP. Once submitted to Parliament we will follow the Motion's progress in the House of Commons and report on any actions taken.

All entries will be entered into a prize draw for the opportunity to have a tour of the House of Commons culminating in afternoon tea.

Rules
In line with the Parliamentary regulations on EDMs your proposed motion must be written as follows:

• Your proposed motion must consist of a single sentence which may be up to 250 words long.
• It must begin with the word "That...", as it is a resolution.
• Your motion should not criticise MPs, peers, judges or members of the royal family except as the main subject of the motion.

You may enter as many suggestions as you wish. The judges decision is final. Individuals connected with the development or operation of this website may not participate.

How to make a submission
To submit your idea for an Early Day Motion, simply fill in our online form. The deadline for submissions is 9 June 2006. The winner will be announced in the The New Statesman magazine and on this website.
