What are the odds of a Trump-less Twitter?

Just imagine.

By Media Mole

Donald Trump to quit Twitter? Your mole can only hope, but for a man with social media incontinence who seemingly converts almost every thought, no matter how horrifying, into a 140 character post, it would seem unlikely.

However, bookmaking firm Betway have priced up the odds of the US president deleting his account at 6-4 following news that singer songwriter Ed Sheeran has done the same.

Rumours are that Trump is easily led when it comes to making big decisions (Eric Trump suggested it was his sister Ivanka who prompted their father to conduct military action in Syria earlier this year) but whether he will be as easily led by the actions of a British pop star remains to be seen – especially given at the same time the odds were revealed he unleashed this typically diplomatic statement:

Trump was obviously smarting after President Xi Jinping didn’t follow through on his brilliant international policy move tabled earlier in the week. On Twitter.

It’s not the first time the president has deployed his own brand of social media diplomacy – such as his tasteless attack on Mayor Sadiq Khan in the wake of the London Bridge terror attack – so while the world can but hope Trump tires of Twitter, 6-4 doesn’t seem a worthwhile bet.

And that means that with the G20 summit swinging into action on Friday, we’re sure to be treated (or tweeted) to some a few more Trump gems.
