Air Astana amends the schedule and flight route to Kyiv in connection with the Malaysia Airlines aircraft crash

We deeply regret the tragedy that involved Malaysia Airlines flight MH17 from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur. Our thoughts are with the passengers, crew, and all families and friends of the passengers and crew on board of flight MH17.

Air Astana has not been using the route overflying Donetsk and Lugansk.  Nevertheless, as a precautionary measure the routings of flights from Kazakhstan to Europe have been changed in order to avoid the Ukrainian airspace completely, with immediate effect as of last night.

Last night Air Astana announced that the flight from Almaty to Kiev and back scheduled for today, 18 July, is cancelled.  Until further notice, the company will suspend flights from Astana to Kyiv and will reduce the services from Almaty to Kyiv to three times per week.  The first next flight is scheduled for Sunday 20 July, subject to confirmation that we will receive permission to operate via a northern flight path which entirely avoids eastern Ukraine.

Passengers affected may contact their designated agent or Air Astana offices to receive full refund or rebook to other dates without any charges.
