Two civilians were killed in South Korea in yesterday's attack by the North.

According to South Korean TV, the two bodies were found on the island of Yeonpyeong, which was hit by dozens of artillery shells.

Two South Korean marines also died, and others were injured. Most of the shells hit a military base.

The attack has been seen as an unnecessary act of aggression, and has been condemned by the US, the UK, the UK, Russia, and the UN.

US President Barack Obama has pledged to stand soldier to soldier with the South.

Speaking to ABC, he cited the need for China's support and promised a strong response. "We strongly condemn the attack and we are rallying the international community to put pressure on North Korea," he said.
