Liberal Democrat support remains just 12 per cent
Party's poor poll ratings trouble activists on eve of annual conference.
Support for the Liberal Democrats has plunged dramatically since the election, according to a new opinion poll. With a day to go before the party's annual conference opens in Liverpool, the latest daily YouGov survey put the party on just 12 per cent, a fall of 11 points since May.
The Conservatives are down one to 41 per cent, with Labour down one to 38 per cent. If repeated at the election on a uniform swing, the latest figures would leave the Tories 19 seats short of a majority in a hung parliament. In an indication of the losses the Lib Dems could sustain at the next election, Nick Clegg's party would be reduced to a rump of 12 seats.
