David Cameron is on course to win a small majority at the election, according to a new opinion poll which shows the Conservatives retaining a comfortable lead over Labour.
The latest daily YouGov survey for the Sun put the Tories up two points to 41 per cent, with Labour also up two to 31 per cent and the Liberal Democrats down two to 18 per cent. If repeated at the election on a uniform swing, the latest figures would see Cameron enter Downing Street with an overall majority of 10 seats.
With a day to go until Gordon Brown calls the election, the poll will encourage Conservative hopes of victory. The Tories had earlier been troubled by a new ICM survey for the Guardian, putting the party just four points ahead of Labour.
