Virgin's 3.8 million customers will have a "home page" with a search box that will allow users to search for programmes on YouTube or Amazon. A "discovery bar" at the top of each navigation page will be updated with the latest information. The bar will feature a user's choice of programmes or films.
The recommendation tools tell the users what other TiVo audience members with similar tastes have liked.
A "wish list" will alert the users when their choice of programme is released.
The device has been built on the Adobe Flash platform to enable the independent software developers to create their own, add-on applications.
