Former Trinity boss plans weekly paper in Birmingham

The former boss of Trinity Mirror weeklies, Tony Lennox, and media entrepreneur Chris Bullivant have

The publication will be called Birmingham Press, for the UK's second largest city.

Although the Birmingham Post has carved out its own niche in the area, it largely remains a business newspaper. This has left a gap in the market which the duo plans to exploit.

Lennox has been reported as saying that the planned publication will operate as a traditional weekly paper and operate on a part-free, part paid-for model with a free distribution of 25,000 copies.

The Birmingham Press will be edited by Lennox and is expected to be launched next month.
