Conservative lead remains at five in new YouGov poll
Latest figures would leave Labour 33 seats short of a majority.
Labour could still emerge as the single largest party after the election, according to a new poll which shows the Conservatives' lead remains fragile.
In the latest daily Sun/YouGov survey the Tories are unchanged on 37 per cent, with Labour also unchanged on 32 per cent. The Liberal Democrats are down two to 19 per cent following an earlier post-conference boost. If repeated at a general election on a unifrom swing, the latest figures would leave Labour 33 seats short of a majority in a hung parliament.
The poll will cheer Labour strategists after several others showed the Conservative lead recovering. The latest ICM poll for the Guardian put the Tories' lead at nine points, while an Opinium survey for the Daily Express put it at 11.
The Conservatives are hoping that their fierce attack on Labour's relationship with Unite, the trade union co-ordinating the British Airways strike, will begin to hurt the government in the polls.
