Eurostar trains will be suspended for a third day, as trains that were modified overnight are tested today.
Tens of thousands of passengers have faced cancelled journeys after a series of breakdowns caused by what the company calls unprecedented weather conditions.
It is thought that water - caused by snow heating up in the tunnel and turning to condensation - has been getting into the electrics. Snow shields fitted on the trains, which have worked for the last 15 years, have failed to cope with the intense cold snap in northern France.
It is hoped that Eurostar will, later today, announce when services will resume. However, due to the backlog of stranded passengers, the company has warned that it will be unable to carry all of the passengers due to travel over the next few days.
On Friday and Saturday, more than 2,000 passengers were trapped on five trains in the Channel Tunnel. More than 31,000 ticketholders have been forced to change their plans.
