Question 3 - Transfering supervisory functions from the FSA to the Bank of England
Is the panel in favour of the Conservative party's proposal?
By Staff blogger Published 07 January 2010Is the panel in favour of the Conservative party's proposal to transfer supervisory functions (including for insurance companies) from the FSA to the Bank of England, given that in all likelihood the same functions will in practice continue to be performed by the same individuals whose employment contracts will simply transfer from one organisation to the other; and if the justification for the transfer is to stop issues falling down the existing cracks between the two organisations will the new structure not simply create new cracks of its own?
