An introduction for the uninitiated of the very often misunderstood belief of Satanism

Satanism. Even today, the very word strikes a note of avid concern and furrows the brow of even some of the most contemporary and supposedly unorthodox minds. And if anyone thinks I am writing this to allay any fears people might have they would be terribly mistaken. The fact is Satanism, for many, is indeed something to be feared. But it does not find its source of power in those laughable caricatures presented for public consumption by a variety of pious maniacs intent on filling their own coffers by preying on the paltry fears of the more feeble minded within society and a media that has, at times, been all too eager to spread the gospel of lurid, lascivious and nefarious tales of Satanic ritual abuse.

I simply do not have either the space or the inclination here to waste time demolishing the moronic claims that Satanism is an international conspiracy of evil psychopaths intent on destroying the planet and enslaving the masses through drug abuse and the sacrifice of children and animals. Those absurd charges have already been lambasted – no less than by the FBI, who in 20 years of investigations have publicly stated that they have never found a scrap of evidence to back up these claims. In fact, it’s rather a shame they had to waste such an inordinate amount of time foraging around in a quagmire of “evidence” born only in the minds of the mentally ill, when they could have been out doing what they are paid to do – locking up those less palatable members of the human race who’s business it is to thrive at the expense of everyone else.

So what is Satanism? Satanism is a religion that accepts man as he most naturally is. Our philosophy is one of elitism, whereby the strong rule over the weak and the productive over the wastrel through a process of Social Darwinism that occurs as a consequence of stratification. The compounding effect of egalitarianism has provided a firm foundation for the abysmal propagation of the parasite. Counter measures are long over due. Satanism espouses justice. And that extends to upholding the principle that only a meritocracy can truly serve the human race. In nature there is a pecking order and higher resources must not be drained by the wilfully less effective who are happy to sit at the bottom of the ladder and drain everyone else like a bloodsucker. No one is suggesting greasing the rungs. The strong stratify themselves, pull themselves up by their own boot-straps and pick themselves up again when they get knocked down – they seek to attain the sweet fruits of indulgence found on the higher plateaus of human endeavour.

Satan, to the Satanist, is an archetype symbolising the inherent nature of man and our acceptance of this brutal philosophy that governs us as a species. To this extent we are atheistic, adopting this mantel as the ultimate figure of pride, rebellion and human excellence.

So as you see, worship and sacrifice are not a part of our rationale; since we do not uphold a deity to bow down to. It has been said that we worship ourselves in the sense that our own egos provide the only bench-mark through which we seek to gratify our desires, pursuing our goals and furthering our own lives through the passionate application of our individual proclivities. For us, there is no hope of reward in some intangible afterlife - here and now is the only opportunity.

Dr. Elmer Gates (1853 – 1923), the eminent research psychologist made specific reference to the importance of individual development, referring to such persons as “a world worker.” He said: “a person whose genius or other predilection is contributory to the development of any science, art, philosophy or religion as a lifework, having accepted his mission and administering it for the world’s weal and his own happiness – he is a world worker.” Satanists are world workers. Satanists are people who can do things. You might be a factory owner, unbeknownst to you the young man who sweeps your floors might be a Satanist. He would certainly never bother you with the fact – but you can be sure you’d have the best swept floors in any factory you can think of. You’d better hold on to that young man because you can be sure he won’t be sweeping floors forever. And you can be just as sure he will apply himself effectively in anything he undertakes.

For those who haven’t yet read The Satanic Bible, Satanic philosophy can be encapsulated in The 9 Satanic Statements (copyright Anton Szandor LaVey 1969):

1: Satan represents indulgence, instead of abstinence!

2: Satan represents vital existence, instead of spiritual pipe dreams!

3: Satan represents undefiled wisdom, instead of hypocritical self-deceit!

4: Satan represents kindness to those who deserve it, rather than love wasted on ingrates!

5: Satan represents vengeance, instead of turning the other cheek!

6: Satan represents responsibility to the responsible, instead of concern for psychic vampires!

7: Satan represents man as just another animal, sometimes better, more often worse than those that walk on all fours, who, because of his “divine spiritual and intellectual development” has become the most vicious animal of all!

8: Satan represents all of the so-called sins, as they all lead to physical, mental or emotional gratification!

9: Satan has been the best friend the church has ever had, as he has kept it in business all these years!

So there you have it. And if evil they brand us, then evil we are! But as you see, there is no element of Devil worship in our credo. Satan is quite simply a symbol of man living as his nature dictates and remaining the final arbiter of his own destiny.

This philosophy seems to have quite a bit in common with National Socialism!

Tom Paine,

That's an interesting comment coming from an all-knowing academic such as yourself. I assume you have a Ph.D. in political science, philosophy, German history, biology, and just about everything else? Obviously . . .

What an in-depth analysis you've made on the subject of Satanism. A true exposé. Satanism equals National Socialism? Why, I didn't even realize I was a National Socialist until you proved it to me!

Tom, how passé you are . . . You make me feel all too blasé about Satanic detractors. The same old, same old autistic psychobabble. You're a pretentious, obnoxious cretin who knows not the forest for the trees, and I'm not responding to you necessarily, but rather this is a pre-empt to the other incoherent, incompetent posts that will no doubt follow this.

I suggest that you study what National Socialism is actually is, it's role in German history, the United States, and other countries and from what and where it was derived from, has progressed into, and what forms it takes today. Moreover, I suggest you actually learn to read, speaking, understand the definitions of words, obtain a firm grasp of vocabulary, explore what Anton LaVey's line of though actually entails, and from what and where it was inspired and drawn from as well as learn the meat of those inspirations. Like Ayn Rand, Friedrich Nietzsche, Mark Twain, and so on. Those people are hardly National Socialists. If you want to learn what social Darwinism is I suggest you begin with Herbert Spencer.

Furthermore . . . I'm a Satanist and a member of the Independent Party. I consider myself a laissez-faire capitalist. That's true, absolute, and total capitalism. No redistribution of the wealth, and the only role of government to be as a protector of its citizens against physical force, and physical force only. For more information on my person political/economic views as a Satanist I suggest you check out Ayn Rand's political, Objectivist philosophy. I share her political agenda, and that's hardly National Socialist.

In conclusion . . . A Satanist can be of whatever political alignment he wishes as long as it is not of an illegal nature. Unlike Christians or whomever it might be --- we Satanists do not force people or tell them how to think or do. As long as it isn't illegal or unSatanic they have all the rope they want. I've said enough . . . The intelligent will hear, listen, and understand. The intentionally "evil," (for lack of a better word), stupid, and ignorant will go on doing what they do best . . . contributing to nothing and also draining and irritating where society is concerned.

P. S. How old are you people and how much of a well-educated moron are you? Both you Tom, and whoever writes and will write such insane garble? It's "sad," when an 18-year-old High School drop out such as myself beats you at every turn in life --- whether it be intellectually, economic, and/or otherwise. Chow . . .

Well Beau, I suggest you study grammar! Oh and reading - 'quite a bit in common with National Socialism' that referred to U.V. Ray's comment: "Our philosophy is one of elitism, whereby the strong rule over the weak and the productive over the wastrel through a process of Social Darwinism that occurs as a consequence of stratification. The compounding effect of egalitarianism has provided a firm foundation for the abysmal propagation of the parasite."

If you actually had studied Hitler's 'philosophy' you would know it has similarities to that statement! You cite Nietzsche, whose writings - albeit often misinterpreted - provided a sort of intellectual foundation for National Socialism.

I was amused by your comment: "You're a pretentious, obnoxious cretin who knows not the forest for the trees..." nothing pretentious there.

And this American-centric observation:

"I suggest that you study what National Socialism is actually is, it's role in German history, the United States..."

If you knew your history you would probably have cited Austria, Czechoslovakia, Poland, France, even much bombed Britain before ever mentioning the US whose huge financial profit from WW2 is well documented!

"I suggest you actually learn to read, speaking..."

Speak would have been correct here!

I accept intelligence is no guarantee of enlightment but 'well-educated morons'? Come on! Moron comes from from moros - Greek for blunt or stupid.

Moreover I thought my rather pithy putdown was less tiresome than a lengthier contribution. Insane I may be but garbled?

Finally, how can you possibly judge whether you've beaten me or indeed your idea of winning matches my criteria? I think we all know who it really is who should grow up.

I suggest you get back into education and stop poncing off using someone else's philosophy as if it were your own!

Ah, but National Socialism is about groups, huddling together for the strength that numbers provide. Satanism discourages such behavior.

Elitism is National Socialist? Then I suppose every organization with any standards whatsoever is somehow a fascist organization?

National Socialism is the opposite of social darwinism. It is a system that seeks to reward individuals based on artificial pedigree instead of actual achievements. So Satanism is not really similar to Hitler's philosophy at all, at least to anyone who has more than a superficial understanding of German National Socialism and Satanism.

Really, your pithy putdown is not original, nor is it well thought out. Many before have tried to label the Satanists in the world as Fascists. The funny thing is not many Satanists are interested in removing such delusions. It is much more fun to watch the paranoid wring there hands and spew nonsense; a strange form of entertainment, granted, but to each his own.

Tom Paine

Elitism is not National Socialism but National Socialism was undoubtedly elitist! You misread my words. And then you fall into the common trap of equating National Socialism and Fascism - the two ideologies may have had common ground but they weren't the same. A bit like, say, Satanism and National Socialism...

Tom

I can’t see any similarities between Satanism and National Socialism.

I say this because I’ve actually looked into it by reading about it. Specifically I actually checked out the Church of Satan [COS] website and information contained in objective and unbiased sources such as Wikipedia.

Prior to reading about Satanism I had a few vague preconceptions about what Satanism was but I didn’t really know. I had developed some ideas from television and horror movies that they might worship the devil and were rebelling against society just for rebellion’s sake – but basically I just didn’t know.

It was my brother who directed me to the COS website and when I started reading the information contained I became intrigued. I found it to be quite an innovative philosophy – but don’t take my word for it. The only true way you can know about it is to read it and then ponder.

This is how I became a Buddhist – by the way. I had been a practicing bible studying Christian prior to this. It was by reading about Buddhism and what the Buddha taught that I actually changed my faith to Buddhism.

I don’t think I am as well versed in political philosophy and history as yourself, U.V. Ray, Jack Lantern (judging from your comments posted above) so I looked up Wikipedia on what it said about National Socialism and copied it below:

“National Socialism refers to the political philosophy of the National Socialist (Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei also called the NSDAP or Nazi) Party, and is often (but incorrectly) used to mean the same thing as Fascism. Fascism is a broader abstraction which subsumes not only the specific ideology of the Nazi party, but also the ideologies of, for example, Benito Mussolini and Francisco Franco.

National Socialism combines several elements in order to justify a Totalitarian political agenda. These include:

• Organic nationalism

• Racism

• Anti-communism

• Expression of a leader principle, a key element of fascist ideology in which the ruler is supposed to embody the nation.

The most prominent National Socialist was Adolf Hitler, who ruled Germany from 1933 until 1945, led Germany into World War II, oversaw the murder of over 20 million people and who is held responsible for the Holocaust. Under Hitler, nationalism and racism were joined together through an ideology of Militarism to serve his goals.”

I did this for my own reference (and for anyone else interested). There is a great deal of difference between Satanists and National Socialists and even Fascsist. If you refer again to the introduction made by U.V.Ray he mentioned a few terms whch go against what is quoted about National Socialism e.g.

“Satanism is a religion that accepts man as he most naturally is…Our philosophy is one of elitism, whereby the strong rule over the weak and the productive over the wastrel through a process of Social Darwinism that occurs as a consequence of stratification. The compounding effect of egalitarianism has provided a firm foundation for the abysmal propagation of the parasite.”

Strong blunt words – but this is not racism or a political ideal. It’s a brutal outlook on people’s primal nature which forces people to compete and evolve into better than what they were. This is how I understand Satanism to be.

On another point referring to U.V.Ray’s introduction:

“So as you see, worship and sacrifice are not a part of our rationale; since we do not uphold a deity to bow down to. It has been said that we worship ourselves in the sense that our own egos provide the only bench-mark through which we seek to gratify our desires, pursuing our goals and furthering our own lives through the passionate application of our individual proclivities.”

This differs again from National Socialism in that it’s not national and not egalitarian. Satanism values the individual and individual expression. In National Socialism, communism and any other totalitarian regime, dictatorship, etc you don’t have this. Satanism is thus the extreme opposite of National Socialism and what it stands for.

These comments made so far make me sound like an apologist for Satanism. My intention here though is to address your original comment logically and equanimously. U.V.Ray only touched upon the subject of Satanism. As stated by the New Statesment at the beginning of this article “Every week a different believer gives the inside track on their religion or philosophy.” This is only the inside track of a much wider path I guess.

As I said earlier I found it to be totally different from what I expected it to be, which is what I also found to be the case in Buddhism as compared to Christianity. I could only have ever done this by keeping my mind open:

“Minds are like parachutes, they only function when they're open.”

Where is the role of compassion in this faith? If everyone basically gets what they deserve based on their merit, that means that the poor, the sick or the downtrodden deserve no sympathy, empathy, or compassion

In relation to Tom Paine's point, this rejection of compassion is essential to National Socialism ,( The lesser races don't deserve compassion because they weaken us) Communism, (The Bourgoise don't deserve compassion becase they oppress the worker.) and other groups or faiths that have commited histories great attrocities, including the radical Muslim terrorists.

I'm not saying that Satanists are Nazis, Commies, or Terrorists, but it is that same dismissal of compassion that allows Histories geatest cruelties to be justified and perpetrated,

BeauHPurple

Rational self-interest . . . Indeed, selfishness . . . Does not mean ditching the other guy, but working with him when it makes sense --- forgetting him when it doesn't.

A rational, self-interested, and selfish person doesn't go out stirring up destruction. Quite the opposite.

Anyway I'm not writing anything else. This is stupid.

Satanists are alien elitists --- not elitists.

National Socialism is not individualistic, but an integration of the mind and the state into one entity. And the leader (Hitler?) is the entity . . .

Nietzsche is not a basis for National Socialism. That is a boldface lie and you know it. I won't even bother with you any more.

I assume you also think Nietzsche was an anti-semite? Despite his railing against anti-semites?

You are purposely manipulating facts, lying, and commiting slander.

Social Darwinism . . .

There is a difference between, "here it is," and what you're talking about.

And social Darwinism doesn't say to go out and kill homeless people. That's not nature. Nature is for them to rise by their own feet or fall. I have nothing to do with them, and indeed don't care. I just want to end redistrubution of wealth . . . That's social Darwinism . . . That's real Capitalism.

National Socialism . . . Communism . . . These are all altruistic creeds. Altruism --- whether it be Christianity or Islam . . . is what determines how "evil," a philosophy is. Altruism is what allows people to shoot up their schools and instill Inquisitions.

Satanism has no altruism. We're "good." As Nietzsche said, more accurately . . . Beyond Good and Evil.

You're an inherently evil person Tom Paine. You lie, manipulate facts, and are a downright criminal. I don't think you deserve to live. I hope you die of cancer, and your whole family too.

Where is the compassion? I love my lovers, my animals, beauty, my friends, my family . . . I donate to animal shelters . . . I donated to 9/11 familes. I donate to kids who have been victims of Christian Ritual Abuse.

Indeed . . . It's a sad place when Christians are commiting sick Ritual Abuses, sacrificing and eating babies. Kidnaping kids, and involved in pedophile rinks.

Us Satanists are trying to stop it.

"Where is the role of compassion in this faith? If everyone basically gets what they deserve based on their merit, that means that the poor, the sick or the downtrodden deserve no sympathy, empathy, or compassion"[sic]

Actually, the universe is not a place that functions by morality. So to say anyone 'deserves' anything in an abstract sense is a little silly.

Satanism leaves compassion up to the individual. Compassion is not required or condemned. It is also up to the individual Satanist to judge merit. We Satanists share a common ground, but pretty much leave each other to the business of being Satanists. I've seen Satanists ignore beggars on the street and I've seen Satanists give change to the less obnoxious beggars on the street. Compassion varies by the individual. No less so for Satanists.

It is hard for many who have lived their whole lives in black and white to see the technicolor world of the Satanist. So I can understand your confusion.

Joss

Firstly your original claim that satanism “… seems to have quite a bit in common with National Socialism!” is still incorrect. From reading all your posts you still haven’t come anywhere close to supporting your claim. Whatever your feelings about the partiality of wikipedia what I quoted is still a very accurate description of National socialism. For reference I will requote some of this:

“National Socialism refers to the political philosophy of the National Socialist (Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei also called the NSDAP or Nazi) Party, …National Socialism combines several elements in order to justify a Totalitarian political agenda. These include:

• Organic nationalism

• Racism

• Anti-communism

• Expression of a leader principle, a key element of fascist ideology in which the ruler is supposed to embody the nation.”

On the basis of the above facts Satanism has not “ a bit in common with National Socialism!”

Your subsequent posts have revealed what you’re concerned about and it seems you have an issue with the elitist philosophy of Satanism and have thus compared this to the elitist practices of National Socialism. In this regard you are also incorrect.

Elitism as practiced by the Nazis is comparable historically - in varying degrees - to the Spartans, the Samurai, Chauvinism/Jingoism of various powerbroking nations in Europe at various times in history. In more recent times you could find similar attitudes of elitism – in varying degrees - in Communist party members of Socilalist countries, extreme radical Islamic groups, various Christian fundamentalist right movements of America, and the Klu Klux Klan (obviously).

In all these examples the elitism of the groups noted above are synonymous with racism, seperatism, segregation, and division. One group is superior because they say so. They say so because they have the power to say so and they are often connected to some sort of armed force. This type of elitism has a militaristic and violent agenda.

From what I’ve read and understood about the elitist philosophy of Satanism it is completely different to the elitist practices mentioned above. The elitism ascribed by Satanism is a glorification of the individual through their own merits and endeavour.

It’s individual elitist approach is probably more comparable to anarchy in some respects. It is quite the opposite of “Organic nationalism”, “Racism”, “Anticommunism” and “expression of a leader principle, a key element of fascist ideology in which the ruler is supposed to embody the nation” as embodied by the Nazis.

In your reply to my post you asked me to “Read Mein Kampf and some of Hitler's and Goebbel's speeches…”

Have you?

Whilst I haven’t read Mein Kampf or listened to the respective speeches of Hitler's and Goebbel's I know enough about them to know that they were laden with anti-semitic, racist and nationalistic garbage. I have found none of that in what I’ve read about Satanism and I have read quite a bit on it.

In conclusion when you asked me to read the above you stated that “you will see what I mean”

Well now I’m asking you now to read up on Satanism by visiting the COS and other associated websites and you will see what I mean.

To quote from a previous post

“The devil is in the detail!”

Joss, in a nutshell you've summed up the problem and the pleasure of the internet which is that it makes an expert of us all and yet no-one has to do any proper research - they can just quote Wikipedia rather than going to the source. I took (cherry picked if you like) a sentence or two from the blog entry. I then drew a comparison with National Socialism because it seemed to me that the sentences could have come from Hitler's mouth.

"The strong rule over the weak and the productive over the wastrel through a process of Social Darwinism that occurs as a consequence of stratification. The compounding effect of egalitarianism has provided a firm foundation for the abysmal propagation of the parasite."

Parasite was a word used by Hitler to describe the international Jewry/ financiers whom he blamed for most of the world's problems. It's worth reading Mein Kampf (and yes I have, like I've read Marx and I've read Trotsky and others) if only to see how core the anti-semitism was from the outset.

Tom, let me ask you this. If you are a hard working, tax paying, make your own way through life, not living off of the government type of person, do you advocate supporting the drug addicts, transients, criminals, murderers, rapists, child molesters and so forth with your money you work hard for? If you do not argue it, than you are supporting the weak and worthless leeches of society and you are advocating that they stay that way! For the governments to continue supporting these types, why would they ever have any reason to support themselves? They have a free ride at OUR expense! The income you earn by working hard to support yourself with a honests days work, part of that income goes to these above listed parasites! Within the CoS structure this is where stratification comes into play, EACH person is placed on the level they deserve to be placed on!

My second question to you is. Where do you get National Socialism and Fascism from this?

If you are part of one of the mass herd human religions than I understand how you are ok and fine with supporting the worthless that thrives and sucks the very economy and the natural stratification from life. And if one is part of the mythology of a mass herd religion than the "love the world and everyone in it" attitude makes sense. To change your mind means nothing to me. I am just curious on why one would cherish and embrace with whole hearted love that is the total unproductive parasites on this planet?

That is all that needs to be said. I will not argue this back and forth as stratification now will come into play.

"I then drew a comparison with National Socialism because it seemed to me that the sentences could have come from Hitler's mouth." User known as Tom

What exactly is your point? That there are similarities, that in some unimportant way you could draw a connection with?

There were ideas in hippy cults in the 60's, cults that damaged lives in grotesque manners, that expressed one or two ideas that could have come from Siddhartha's (the main Buddha of Buddhism) mouth yet that is not even the beginning of an argument tying Buddhism to these cults in any real ways.

There are very real, very numerous reasons as to why these different groupings don't actually cross paths. The devil is in fact in the detais, the many other details you would have to ignore in order to tie National Socialism to Satanism in any real way.

I'm of the understanding that there are ideas in Satanism that sound like they could have come from Hitlers mouth, could have come from the mouth of Jesus Christ (if he weren't a myth), could have come from the mouth from various Eastern philosophers. So what? Does that make them any less valid as ideas and ideals?

One or two similar characteristics do not make one species of animal the same as another, does not mean they can breed and produce, does not mean they wouldn't hate and kill each other. The overwhelming differences make that so.

Yes, very elementary statements I'm sure. So why didn't you get that before you wrote your initial posting?

----

As an aside, the article by Mr. Ray is top notch and informative.

Tom

Your original comment was strongly worded. No one likes to be compared to Nazis (except perhaps – Nazis). This is probably why you’ve generated so many reply posts countering your claim. My reply is about another matter.

Why do you assume that I haven’t done any ‘proper research’? I didn’t just quote Wikipedia and leave the argument there. My quotation of Wikipedia was used as a reference point to counter your claim which I backed up with other facts. I could have used many other reference sources be they encyclopaedic, historical, political and they would have all more or less said the same thing about the philosophy of National Socialism. Facts are facts after all and the quotation from Wikipedia (or any other reference source) is just a series of irrefutable and historical facts.

Your original comment isn’t.

As stated in your last post you just selected a sentence or two and drew a comparison with National Socialism.

And you have the gall to assume that I didn’t do any proper research. Perhaps if you had done some proper research you would’t have made your original comment in the first place.

I don’t have the knowledge and understanding that you and lot of others possess concerning national socialist philosophy which is why I’ve taken my time to thoughtfully word and consider my response to you. In all your posts (except the last one) you’ve just skipped around the issue without any real defence of your claim.

You’re last post finally gets to what you’re concerned about and it’s both an overreaction and a misinterpretation. You’ve read a few words and instantly matched it to a mental database where you’ve heard these words before and thus it became the same.

On your advice I may well read Mein Kampf and know perhaps where you’re coming from a little better. Perhaps you might act on my request and keep an open mind on the topic.

A religion that does not begin with the tenet that there is something intrinsically wrong with us seems revolutionary. A philosophy that describes the world as it actually works. Why does it seem audacious to expect individuals to prove their worth?

alzwick13
10 August 2007 at 00:14

Jack,

I think there is a misunderstanding about my comment. You seem to have an issue with my using the term "deserved". I am not using "deserved" in a moral or abstract sense, but in a more down to earth way, for example, If get a 100 on a test, you deserve an A. The author’s argument is that, people get where they are based on merit. Thus, they deserve to be in the good, or bad position they are in because of how bright and/or hardworking they are. So, you really have not addressed my quandary.

Also, your comments on individual Satanists are completely irrelevant. My question has to do with the philosophy of the faith. Obviously individuals will ignore what their faith says they should do. That is not the point.

So, even if Satanism takes a neutral stance towards compassion, my point still stands.

By the way, I'm not going to end my comment with an unnecessary and arrogant dig on you. The same would be appreciated.

Mr_Obsidian
10 August 2007 at 23:32

Compassion is quite relevant to Satanists.

We operate according to a sort of modified golden rule:

"Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. If, however, your kindness is not reciprocated, then do unto others as they do unto you."

Satanism is not some childish angst-ridden philosophy for assholes -- the philosophical bedrock is based on reality and the nature of the human animal as evidenced since the inception of recorded history.

Compassion is reserved for those who deserve such emotional investment. Contempt is offered to those who, by their own conscious efforts, make miserable the lives of others. Sympathy is not given freely to those who fail through their own mediocrity.

Stratification occurs regardless of how many egalitarian dreamers fantasize to the contrary.

Satanism is comparable to National Socialism, and/or Hitler's stances on Jews? Or whatever plethora of other hysteria you wish to compare Satanism to? These statements within the above article are congruent with beliefs in racism, mass genocide, and/or any number of destructive, physical force-initiative behaviorisms or criminal acts?

Please . . . Don't insult my intelligence or the intelligence of anyone else. If they have any. Obviously you don't . . . Tom.

Tom Paine, you're obviously a paranoid psychotic, and/or possibly schizophrenic, and even prone to a number of different mental illnesses and tendencies? Am I correct? I also suspect that you're a strong supporter of lurid conspiracy theories such as 9/11 being an inside job executed by the Bush administration, that aliens from outerspace are abducting children with the full support of world governments, and that these and all other conspiracies that you believe are all intricately interconnected and all trace back to an elaborate plan being run by Satanic organizations such as the Freemasons and Catholic Church and that these are being controlled and overseen by one Michael Aquino of the Temple of Set and his Hitlerian beliefs?

Is that who you are Tom Paine? I bet you are. I also bet that such lunacy is motivated by ulterior, less than flattering purposes? That you believe none of this bologna, except that maybe you're an asshole whose fooling himself and being fooled, and in turn fooling others?

I will waste no time debunking you. But rather, that I will follow in your footsteps by giving accounts of amazing character assassinations, general blanket statements, underhanded manipulations, misrepresentations, assumptions, baseless accusations, autistic ineptness, mischaracterizations, black propaganda, lies, grey propaganda . . .

Oh, wait . . . That would make me like you. I digress from that . . . Let me start are all over then.

Let me just give you my personal testament of what Satanism entails at least for me. This is a subjectively objective experience and observation then . . . In a nutshell.

In the beginning I was raised to be a Pentecostalist . . . That's what I thought I was . . . I was lead to believe it . . . I knew no better. At about eight I became a Southern Baptist . . . And like my peers, family, teachers, and other repugnant fellow Christians I was a racist, bigot, altruist, and a variety of nasty things --- some of which you have mentioned. Like my fellows I was taught to obscure, hide, and make right these things by using Machivellian, and even Orwellian lingo and doing likewise in physical actions as well . . .

This is the Christian world of doublethinks, doublespeaks, and doubledoingness . . . It's what all Christians, Muslims, Buddhists, Jews, Hindus, and the rest of the ilk do. Some do it knowingly, some do it unknowingly, and still others have been brainwashed by it . . .

I'd donate canned foods while at the same time supporting, along with my community and inept politicians the very same laws and idealogies that create those homeless people . . . I'd pat my enemies on the back while at the same chuckling that they'd burn in Hell . . . I'd wish gays love and tolerance while at the same wishing the exact opposite . . .

I'd be pro-life by being pro-death . . . Anti-violent by being violent . . . Anti-hate by being hateful . . . And I could go on . . .

Point is . . . Every idea that you support Tom Paine . . . and all you other compassionate altruists and moralists and charity lovers . . . Are the exact ideas that make National Socialism, communism, rape, murder, war, holocaust, genocide, and the rest possible.

Every idea that Satanism supports is what makes those things impossible . . .

You're the ones making homeless people, orphans, gangs, violence, suicide bombers, abortions, and etc. possible and even plausible . . . Not us.

If the world belonged to us Satanists there would be none of this. It'd be a perfect utopian.

Am I the insane one? If you call LIFE insane . . . and being opposed to all those terrible things going on in the world insane . . . Then I'm insane.

The world belongs to you . . . Not to Satanists. You're the ones with strikes against you. Not us.

You are everything you say we are. You're trying to make yourself feel better by hysterically inventing scapegoats . . . You have to find ways to wear a Goodguy Badge and make it look pretty . . .

I know the full list of accusations you're pinning on Satanism. You just haven't listed them. But I know them . . .

Meanwhile . . . My world is small and tiny. I don't acknowledge the existence of your world. I don't care how many people died in Iraq today . . . I don't care how many children are being murdered by Christians and Muslims and whatever else . . . My world is too small and selfish for that . . .

I can't fix that. I can only make my world perfect. I love the people who deserve love and care for the people that I need to care for. I can't feed lazy people and I can't love child rapists, and I can't donate to homeless people who wasted their money on drugs . . .

The real world is the real world. It is what it is. There are tigers out in the jungle . . . there are guns out in the jungle. I can't pretend those things don't exist. I can't pretend there is no suffering neither. You're the one who wants to pretend there isn't.

You want to wallow in suffering, death, pity, and violence. I don't. You want to hate this world and praise the next. I don't.

I want to tend my garden and water my own flowers. You want to tend someone else's garden and water their flowers. I don't.

That's why my world is beautiful and free of what yours entails. If you'd do like me . . . all of you. Then the world would be wonderful . . . and it is. Because I don't pay attention to you. I live in a patriarch. You live in a matriarch. I live in a beautiful world that doesn't need fixed, and I live in a world of no ill thoughts because there is no such thing as what is ill . . . You the opposite.

I'm a poet . . . a dreamer . . . an artist . . . A flamboyant person that feels thing you could never feel . . . understands things you never could.

But I used to think I was like you . . . I'm not anymore. I've overcome that disease . . .

The ape is a disease that must be overcome . . . Man shall overcome the ape . . .

Man is a disease that must be overcome . . . The Superman shall overcome the man . . .

The Superman is not superior by politics, religion, race, blood, and/or any means that might be considered by man or the ape to be superior . . . The Superman is superior because he has overcome the symptoms of man and ape and that disease that they are . . . overcome a world full of vultures, flies, and death. Has entered a place that cannot be communicated to ape or man . . . The Superman lives in a world that is his own . . . And it's beautiful! There is nothing to fix and nothing to change . . . We live in the forest and we love to talk to the sparrows and the snakes . . . We like to listen to streams and and the sands . . . We can't hear the wails of dying Muslims and bitching Christians . . .

Silly people! Have you not heard? God is dead!

This is my final time to stand in the marketplace and swat at flies . . .

The more I read the more appealing Satanism becomes. Judging by what else is out there in terms of religion it certainly seems a lot more fun and a lot more honest!

"On the basis of this recognition [the volkisch principle] feels bound in conformity with the eternal Will that dominates the universe, to postulate the victory of the better and stronger and the subordination of the inferior and weaker. And so it pays homage to the truth that the principle underlying all Nature's operations is the aristocratic principle and it believes that this law holds good even down to the last individual organism." - Mein Kampf, Vol. 2, Chapter 1.

Of course Nazism and Satanism aren't equivalent or even similar (the racial aspect, the emphasis on national community and a single movement with a leader, the suspicion of the bourgeoisie, capitalism and liberalism are some glaring differences), but Tom Paine had a fair point when he said they had things in common - I don't think he was trying to offer a sustained critique, just a cursory observation to think about and he certainly didn't deserve the subsequent personalised mauling.

To make a tentative judgement myself (and I don't claim to be an expert, so correct me if I'm wrong), Satanism seems to have common ground with general capitalist philosophy that the rich deserve to be rich (because they work hard and are skilled) and the poor deserve to be poor (because they're lazy and are unskilled). To a left winger this is complete nonsense and only serves to perpetuate divides in our society. To get the most out of society we surely want everyone contributing as much as they can, this means helping to bring the disadvantaged out of poverty and ignorance and into education, employment and society in general. So I disagree, but, hey, you're not Nazis!

Peace.
