Five things you might have missed
1. Fine by me
A Romanian priest has decided that non-virginal brides should be fined. Father Petrica Bratu hopes that his "white dress fine" will discourage premarital intimacy. The fines will range from £10 to £60, with pregnant brides and those with children paying the maximum.
2. Wind warning
A jet had to make an emergency landing in Nashville after a passenger lit a match - to conceal her flatulence. Staff were alerted after several passengers noticed a burning smell.
3. Who's got the hump?
A camel gatecrashed the staff Christmas party at an equestrian centre in Ireland. Before anyone arrived, Gus helped himself to all 200 mince pies and 150 sandwiches. He also opened and drank seven cans of Guinness.
4. Young love
A four-year-old boy in Texas has been accused of sexual harassment. The boy, who hugged a teaching assistant, was said to have demonstrated "inappropriate physical behaviour". His father is seeking to have the judgment removed from his son's file.
5. Can you believe it?
A West Midlands supply teacher has been sacked for telling children there is no Father Christmas. Or elves. Or fairies. Seething parents complained to the head, who has followed up the matter with the agency. One mother of a pupil said: "Everyone is disgusted."
