Where were you?

Published 04 December 2006

Five things you might have missed last week

1. Hot wax

Pulling down Kylie Minogue's hot pants, punching Sven-Göran Eriksson and throttling Ken Livingstone - these are just some of the antics of Bryan Boniface, a night worker at Madame Tussauds, as revealed in photos released by an ex-girlfriend. "We do not encourage this," said a museum spokesperson.

2. Golden anthill

Members of the Chinese public were duped into investing £198m in a fictitious ant-breeding project. Black ants are sold in China as a treatment for arthritis.

3. White Christmas

Two Colombian artisans have been caught making Father Christmas figurines from cocaine. The men planned to smuggle the snow Santas into the US and Europe.

4. Swede Jesus

Swedes have more faith in Ikea than the church. Eighty per cent of people polled said they trusted the furniture chain; only 46 per cent could say the same of the church.

5. Bear essentials

Scientists in Thailand believe that panda porn may be the key to getting pandas to mate. Showing virgin males DVDs of other pandas mating has led to a baby boom for one of the world's most endangered (and lethargic) species.
