Editor's Letter

Ben Davies

Published 13 November 2006

It seems to have taken long enough but finally the American voter appears to have rumbled George Bush and the Republicans. So it's only right that a really glum picture of the US president takes pride of place on our cover – and we've plenty of incisive analysis from Andrew Stephen on the inside.

Meanwhile our award-winning political editor Martin Bright exclusively reveals that a draft of the government's WMD dossier is still being kept from the public . . . and it was written by a spindoctor

Martin Narey goes on the offensive criticising a British policy of deporting sick children while Sue Branford and Jan Rocha report from Brazil where indigenous groups are fighting the rainforest tycoons.

Then we have Annalisa Barbieri warning of the pitfalls of unfortunate gymwear, an interview with newstatesman.com's new agony aunt Marina Pepper and a review of Women in Love by Rebecca West. Ok I'll admit it – the last one's from our archive and the latest fascinating choice by Brian Cathcart.
