The New Statesman outshone all its rivals at the prestigious UK Press Gazette magazine awards on 26 October, producing four winners and one commendation.

In the Magazine Journalism Awards, the Exclusive of the Year went to our political editor, Martin Bright, for his scoop in January about what the British government did and didn't know about the Americans' secret "rendition" of terrorism suspects.

Our television critic, Andrew Billen, was acclaimed Reviewer of the Year for his insights and wit.

Peter Wilby, our former editor, was highly commended for his weekly media column, regarded as one of the best in the country.

Our brilliant new look dominated the Magazine Design Awards. Our design consultants, Simon Esterson and Stephen Coates, along with our art director, David Gibbons, won two awards - Consumer Front Cover of the Year and Best Use of Typography.

The results further demonstrate how our exclusive stories, fine writing and bold new look have made waves. The critical acclaim has coincided with an increase in sales of more than 20 per cent, marking a 25-year high.

Meanwhile, look out for our brand new website, to be launched on 16 November.
