Congestion charge bosses have apologised to a motorist for sending him more than 60 bills although he had not been to London since 1981. David Timothy, 47, was sent 31 bills for non-payment followed by a further 34 repeat bills, but did not own the offending car at the time the fines were incurred. Transport for London said it would be sending Mr Timothy "some money for the inconvenience caused".

Feeling blue

Children wearing blue face paint have been banned from a display at Twycross Zoo, Warwickshire, after scaring three marmoset monkeys. A zoo manager tested the paint theory and realised the problem.

The Asda supermarket chain has applied to register "Chav Sweets" as a trademark. Anyone who wishes to object to the registration of the words now has three months to notify the Trademark Registry.
