This autumn with the New Statesman
Published 25 September 2006
With the political conference season in full swing, the New Statesman continues to make waves with its exclusive stories and bold new design.
This week's Labour conference special issue has the best coverage, led by our political editor, Martin Bright. In recent weeks we have set the agenda with an exclusive interview with David Miliband and provocative articles from Charles Clarke, Jack Straw and Patricia Hewitt. As the contests for leader and deputy leader begin, we will be at the heart of the debate.
We devote more space than ever to international coverage, with incisive columns from John Pilger, Rageh Omaar and Ziauddin Sardar. Lindsey Hilsum reports from China and Michela Wrong writes on Africa. Andrew Stephen will be providing the inside track on the US midterm elections.
Our social and cultural writers are an unmissable part of the mix. Peter Wilby is Britain's top media commentator, Noreena Hertz has the leading edge on global issues and Mark Lynas writes on green politics. Human-rights lawyer Clive Stafford Smith's regular column is essential reading.
Our expanded Arts & Culture section features the UK's best critics - Andrew Billen, Rosie Millard, Ryan Gilbey and Rachel Cooke. Our sparkling Books pages will keep you ahead of the game in the coming season. And there's humour, lots of it, with Rory Bremner, Julian Clary and Neighbours from Hell.
Meanwhile, at www.newstatesman.com
Our bloggers have the behind-the-scenes latest at the conferences: at Labour, Tony Woodley and Sadiq Khan MP; from the Tories, Cameron A-lister Maria Hutchings and Anne Milton MP. Martin Bright provides the essential analysis.
