duck, in the Morrisons car park. Council pest control officers were informed,
who in turn alerted Defra. A council spokesman said: "We have to be a little bit more vigilant at the moment if you do find any sort of dead birds. Under
normal circumstances the situation would be handled by pest control, but the
council was edging on the side of caution. There was obviously something wrong with the bird, but we don't know if it was infected with the H5N1 virus
or not." A Defra spokesman said they could not comment on individual cases.
