Accusations of Byers

Bill Greenwell

Published 22 October 2001

Paul Simon turned 60

I'm playing with the railway stations,

Put the top cats in administration, oo-ooh.

Everything has gone as planned,

The caps are empty in their hand,

All that I don't understand

Is why I've been severely panned:

Go to ground, I think I will

Go to ground -

Go while this hole is gaping,

Go where the press aren't taping,

Go where Jo Moore is shaping

Everything for me.

Tonight I'll lay new tracks again,

I'll fix the points and pret-e-end, oo-ooh.

But all my schemes rebound on me

Despite my trade and industry

And though I've set the railways free

I need someone to cover me:

Go to ground . . .
