Theme from Madnight Conboy

Bill Greenwell

Published 23 July 2001

Fred Neil (the writer of "Everybody's Talking") died. The last two runners in the Tory leadership race now face an electorate composed of party members

Everybody's gawping at us

They don't hear a word we're saying

Only the echo of our behinds

People stopping caring

We go through our paces

Quoting the shadows of our lies

We're going where the twilight's fading

With our bored refrains

Going where the withered root half-grows

Blankly blowing out thoughtless wind

Wailing old melodies

And digging up all our old scores like a bone
