Bush in a China Shop

Bill Greenwell

Published 02 April 2001

Mir landed. The Bush administration sees China as the new enemy

It's a Mir little drop in the ocean,

A red splash the colour of rust,

But not worth a whistle

Or nuclear missile -

We need a new bogey to bust.

There are too many cool-hand assassins

With braincells concealed behind shades:

Unless they're deployed,

Their jobs will be void.

It's time that we launched a crusade.

The guys say they want to break China:

They figure the problem's terrific.

Let fly the wild geese,

If they're keeping the peace -

And I think that it's in the Pacific.
