Cristina Odone's piece on Labour Party activists (5 February) missed a number of crucial details that would have provided her analysis with additional verisimilitude, so as better to make her points.
She forgot to mention the whippets and flat caps, which, as any fule know, vie with pints of mild and Woodbines for the affections of the average party worker.
Then again, maybe she was being, you know, ironic. Like most of what passes for ironic these days, however, it was a rehash of the worst stereotypes, the reiterating of which merely confirms existing social structures rather than challenges them. Maybe she should work for Loaded - that sort of thing seems to go down well there. Or maybe I've drunk too much mild to get the joke . . .
