There was more rain. Chris Woodhead has resigned to write for the Telegraph. William Hague is said to want him to be ennobled. With apologies to Harold Arlen and Ted Koehler

Don't know why

It feels sunny as July

Warmer weather

Since he went to ply Tory blether

Seems blazing all the time

Life is fair

No more blockhead doctrinaire

Warmer weather

Just as bright and light as peacock feather

So cheerful all the time

Since he went away, the Blues stepped in to get him

Is today the day old Tony Blair'll forget him?

All I do is pray the House of Lords won't let him

Talk so much tripe any more

Sunlight shone

When they told me he had gone

Warmer weather

He and his plan gone for ever

Feels finer all the time
