Simply Pinkish

Mick Hucknall of Simply Red ("Stars") has reportedly been asked to come up with a campaign song for Labour

Anyone who ever hailed you

Would tell you the words you're wheeling

Anyone who ever flaunted you

Would try to sell you like a box of Tide

The only ones who're still undaunted

Start unreeling the steps you're taking -

The only thing you never feel is doubt:

Wait a minute, can't you see

That I wanna join with the stars

Rating all your charms

I . . . I'll deal you what I can't comprehend . . .

Too many words are token

A party's promise

Never came with a price-tag

So many words are left as slogan

My head is hurting despite my ice-pack

After all the claims you gave me

Health and tax and schools and even pension

You'll never know how much you irk me -

Stay a minute, can't you see

That I wanna join with the stars

Rating all your charms

I . . . I'll deal you what I can't comprehend . . .
