A Warrington council spokeswoman said: "Officers felt that clubs offering striptease and table dancing would require a higher level of inspection and a greater input of staff time." - Manchester Evening News (David Mylan)

The sportsmen were enjoying an end-of-season celebration at Ben Rhydding Cricket Club, near Ilkley, when they decided to strip and have a game.
The club captain, Andrew Jennings, said it was so cold the umpire was allowed to wear a coat.
"It went on for about an hour, much to the amazement of passing traffic," he said. "It's what sport is all about." -Guardian (Michael Rubinstein)
