Police recovered £14,000 of stolen confectionery and electrical items after raiding a pub in Walsall. Items recovered from the Forge Hammer in St Anne's, Willenhall, included drills, a laptop computer, cameras, mobile phones and a large quantity of marshmallows. Police want anyone who has been offered such goods to contact them. - Birmingham Post (Pam Pritchard)

A man was accompanied by a toddler in a foiled attempt to steal a handbag from a house in Plympton, Devon, last week. Police yesterday deplored the use of the child, who was described as "spotty" and believed to have chicken pox. - Independent (Derek Morgan)
