A human finger was found impaled on a barbed wire fence near to Prudhoe High School.
After inquiries, officers spoke to a local man who said that he was taking a short cut across the school field after a drinking session when he caught his hand on the fence.
He continued home and it was only the next day that he discovered the finger was missing. - Hexham Courant (Betty Logan)
