When Brian McDonald borrowed his best friend's car he said he was going south for a few days. Three months later, he returned the Renault 5 . . . but Steve Dodge, the car's owner, has refused to take the car back, claiming it is now worthless.
Mr McDonald, an electrician and a mountaineer, also went up the Matterhorn on his 7,000-mile tour of France, Switzerland, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, Turkey, Croatia, Poland, Germany and the Netherlands. He said: "I did it on the spur of the moment." - Times (Francis Harvey)
