A warrant was issued for the arrest of the 23 year old from Knowle, Bristol, when he failed to appear before city magistrates at the end of August.
He turned up at Broadbury Road police station to ask for written confirmation that he was a wanted man so that he could get a sick-note from his doctor, explaining his absence from court. Officers arrested the man. - Western Daily Press (Francis Harvey)

The BBC is to play a background tape to liven up one of its quietest offices.
Staff in one section of the finance department in White City, London, are said to be suffering from "pin-drop" syndrome. The BBC is installing a £2,300 machine which plays "mutter" - speech that is just too quiet to be understood.
