John Ashton, chairman of Greater Yarmouth Tourist Authority, spoke against the proposals at yesterday's committee meeting and told councillors that use of the hotels would be inappropriate and insensitive. He added that it would be wrong to place refugees and asylum-seekers with people on holiday.
"Those paying for and seeking a carefree holiday should not be placed among those facing all the pressures of seeking asylum, with little or no spending power and uncertainty about their futures." - Eastern Daily Press (John Garrett)
